Sleep walking distance from Le Marais.
Paris's queer life lives in Le Marais. Rue Sainte-Croix de la Bretonnerie, Rue des Archives, Rue du Temple, and Rue de la Verrerie. That is where the bars and the 4am walks home are. Stay on Sainte-Croix if you want to leave Freedj and be in bed in two minutes. Stay on Gravilliers if you want the hotel that wrote a welcome, and an eight-minute walk south to the strip. Place des Vosges is quieter and about eleven minutes back. Gare du Nord is the hinge: Eurostar, the RER B from the airport, and a metro into the neighborhood. The bookshop is not in the Marais anymore. Les Mots à la Bouche is on Rue Saint-Ambroise in the 11th.

Planning the trip
- Where is Paris's gay area?
- Le Marais, around Rue Sainte-Croix de la Bretonnerie and the streets of Archives, Temple, and Verrerie. The 11th is a separate neighborhood. The bookshop moved there; the bars did not.
- Which neighborhood should I stay in?
- Le Marais if you want to walk between bars and bed. Haut-Marais if you want the hotel that published a welcome and an eight-minute walk. Place des Vosges if you want a quieter street. Gare du Nord if you want the Eurostar, the airport RER, and a metro into the scene.
- Is there a gay hotel in Paris?
- There is no Axel Hotels property in Paris. Maison Axel Opéra on Rue de Montyon is a separate 3-star near Opéra; the hotel's own site does not publish an LGBTQ welcome. Hôtel Jules & Jim on Rue des Gravilliers does.
